Sonia Chin, a senior secretary in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, was a recent winner the newspaper Metro New York's Metro Photo Challenge. In 1933, the Association became incorporated and today remains steadfast in support of the Medical College's goals, mission and strategic priorities. The Alumni Association was founded in 1904 shortly after the fifth class of medical students graduated from the Medical College. Its mission is to promote scholarship and research at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, to encourage a high standard of character and conduct among medical students and graduates, and to recognize high attainment in medical science, practice and related fields.
The motto of the society, "Worthy to serve the suffering," is an appropriate summation of the individuals who are elected into this most prestigious of medical societies. Its main focus is to recognize and perpetuate excellence, humanism, and academic achievement in the medical community. AΩA is the only national medical honor society in the world.
